Going out to see live music these days can be a mixed bag. The tickets, booze and parking have become increasingly expensive and there always seems to be someone talking while I’m trying to enjoy my favorite band!?! There is a great alternative, however, and it’s called a house concert. In a nutshell, a house concert is live music performed in someone’s home or other private venue (generally in the living room or basement). There are no rules as to what a house concert is or isn’t, but usually:

Host: provides the space and handles invites.
Guests: brings their a beverage, snack and donation for the artist (usually 10-20 bucks).
Artist: performs 2 sets w/ a break in between to mingle and hang out.
Shows: usually have at least 20 people in attendance on up to 50 or more.

Very simple and a great way for an audience and performer to connect.
